So, let's take a look at a typical college day...

You go to your classes, listen to lectures, do the "practical stuff" and you go back to your dorm with a new assignment and a new deadline.

It sucks, doesn't it? And your professor who seems to go "blah blah blah" obviously doesn't help your situation.

It's all about what you're used to.

In high school, you were used to a specific amount of work everyday. So, you didn't have a problem completing the work because you were expecting it.

And here's another thing about high school and "school" in general...

Grade by grade, year by year, it gradually gets more demanding. But you were still able to manage it, right? Why? The increments were slow and steady.

The ninth grade was easy. The tenth grade was a little harder. The eleventh grade got a bit more serious, but nothing to throw you off track!

But what makes college so stressful?

The big jump. All of a sudden, more things are expected of you. Between the twelfth grade and college, there's a pretty long gap.

And not being used to the pressure is what stresses you out. It's what stresses me out too!

There you have it. Well, the "age-old school effect" is definitely visible in that list, isn't it? Now to the part you were patiently waiting for...

College Student Stress: Some Tips For You!

First of all, treat your professors as your friends, not your enemies. You might think, "How is that going to help me?"

You see, I know many people who are spiteful and hateful towards their professors and teachers. They think that the teachers are there just to make their life miserable.

And what do all of those students have in common? They are extremely stressed out. They can't handle their professors, or the pressure of school.

Bottom line?

Hatred and spite causes stress. Your professors aren't there to make your life hell. In fact, they are there to help you achieve the exact opposite!

Who's the only person who understands your work better than you do? Your professor. Who's the only person who can help you understand your lesson? Your professor.

And that means...frequently communicating with your professor will help you grasp the material better. And that means...no stress!

But you've heard this a million times before, haven't you?

I'm sure you have. You know, to have a good relationship with your teacher? Well, let me tell you something you haven't heard before...

Just think "I'm not alone". Why? Because you're not! You can bet that many people in your classes are in the same stressful position as you.

So, what do you do? Ask them how they manage their stress. Exchange ideas. Work together. Having someone facing the same problems by your side always kills the stress.
