What does that mean? Learning how to manage stress through this method means you have to get what you want. At meetings, and at work, at life! Why?

If you are not in control of your life, stress will take charge and control you! Stress preys on those who don't live their own life. Now what does this all mean?

Get it your way? Live your own life? Confusing, right? Well, get ready to learn a new way to eliminate the stress in your life!

How to Relieve Stress: Be Your Own Boss

We all have bosses. If you're a "boss" yourself, the government is your boss! Whether it be at work, or at home, bosses control us. So we can't control the stress that comes from those sources.

But what about the things you can control?

You probably experience many opportunities in your life where you can take control and be the leader. Where? You know, at work meeting, or even organizing social events.

Anything which involves a team effort, try to take charge. Why? You make decisions. You get it your way!

Why is getting your way so important?

You see, once you get that control in your life, you have a feeling of freedom. A feeling of power. And guess what? Lot of our stress comes from sources that we can't control.

But once you take control of the situation, you also control your stress! I know this sounds too easy "on paper" so let me give you an example.

You're at an office meeting.

A group project is being assigned and people are designating each other's roles. This is were you have the chance to step in. Make your point clear and say what you think is best for everyone.

Remember, if someone says something you don't like, make it known! After all, you have the chance, don't you?

For example, if one of your colleagues is asking you to work overtime twice a week because they can't, ask yourself this: "If I work overtime, will it cause me stress?"

If so, say no. They should be able to understand. I know what you're thinking after all this: "How are these little things going to relieve my stress?"

It's the little things that count. Here's why...

How to Relieve Stress: The Little Things are "Bigger" Than the Big Things

Little things, such as job meetings, unnecessary commitments (work overtime) all contribute a great deal in our lives. In the form of stress.

So it may not seem big to you if you get things your way in the littlest of things. After all, you can't get it your way when you're dealing with your boss, so the little things are your best bet.

What little things? Here are some examples where you can take control...

-Occasions where you can easily say "no" instead of "yes" -Job occasions where you're given a chance to display your opinion (meetings, conferences, etc)

-Practice your "boss" skills (are you a parent/baby-sitter, etc)

-Try to negotiate your point of view even to your boss

Well, these are just some of the little things you can take control of. Remember; the more things you have control over, the less sources of stress you'll have.

And that means you'll have less stress! Well, I am saying to get it your way at meetings, right? What if you're not that type of person? What if you're not assertive or a controlling person by nature?

Well, you don't have to change your personality. Follow these tips and you'll be all set...
