Stress and College Students: What Do You Control? There are many things that you can't control, when it comes to college. You can't control your workload, your tests, or your deadlines. So why stress about it? It's not going to change anything, except make you more stressed. So, what's the answer? What do you control? You control when you
sleep
, how much time you chose to work everyday, what you eat, etc. All of these things are fully your choice. What's my point? Chances are, you're doing a lot of different things in college, than when you were in high school. Things that are under your control. And you know something else? These are the things that are causing you stress... Stress and College Students: What's Different? In high school, you didn't have so much work. At least not enough to cut your sleeping hours! In high school, you weren't partying as much. In high school, you were eating at the right times. In high school, you had typical day-to-day habits. Get the point? College can be so busy, it can even alter your daily habits. And this change causes stress. But the changes I've listed may not apply to you. Se here's what you have to do... What Are You Doing Different Are you sleeping later? Are you eating late? Are you drinking more often? There has to be something different that you're doing. Why else would you be stress out? So, once you've figured that out... Stop Doing It! If your work is causing you to sleep late, cut back on the social time - for now. Temporarily stop doing whatever you're doing, and see if there's a difference. Are you less stressed? If you're still feeling the same, find something else that your doing differently! In college, there are just too many things you do.

See How You Can Life Without It Let's go back to our example, cutting back on social time to avoid late nights. Maybe that's a little too hard for you? After all, we all need social time. So,

That's One Stressor Down As soon as you've eliminated one stressor, live your life. Just live the change. Then, when you want eliminate another stressor, just follow the above steps again.
