Well, it's natural, easy, and it doesn't take too much of your time. That puts it "way up there". And that's what makes it special. But hey I do it, and it helps me clear my mind.

It relaxes those tense nerves up in my brain. You know, it relieves my stress. People these days are after those "natural" solutions.

What's more natural than nature itself?

Nothing! That's right. Out of all the stress reduction techniques out there, how many have you come across that are as simple as getting some fresh air? Not many.

Something so simple, yet hardly anyone thinks of it as a technique! But I do.

So why is fresh air good for stress? Ready to find out? Here goes...

Fresh Air

A Different Scene, A Different Feeling, A Happy Person

You see, when you step outside, and I mean in an open place (like your backyard), it automatically relaxes you. Wait! I know what you're thinking!

"It's just too simple, so why would it work?"

Try it. You see, when your mind experiences a different setting, one which includes the nature and fresh air, it makes you more happy. You feel like a part of nature.

It's just really calm and serene. Almost like paradise. And I'm not exaggerating.

If you just close your eyes, while taking in the fresh air, everything seems so simple. As if the earth were just born yesterday. Birds chirping, trees giving off that fresh aroma, the air quietly humming.

It's such an easy feeling. And to top it off, forget about work, computers, and technology itself. It just makes life seem more complicated. How many stress reduction tips have you come across that allow you to feel like a part of nature, while doing the favor of relieving your stress?

Again, not many. So take this lesson to heart.

The Busy World of Technology

So why don't many people even consider this as a solution for stress? Because we've become too reliant on technology. I'm not trying to sound pessimistic, but that's the truth.

We want chemically produced medicines to solve our health problems. It's as if we forget about the birds, the trees, the natural earth.

Sometimes that's where the answer lies. It's as simple as getting some fresh air. But again, technology in the form of computers keeps us inside. Don't get me wrong. I'm not against technology or anything. I love it just as much as you do.

All I'm saying is sometimes you have to open your mind to a more simple solution. Step outside, close your eyes, take in the fresh air, while enjoying the presence of nature. Your stress will vanish.

There are Many Stress Reduction Tips Out There

Out of all the stress reduction tips, getting fresh air may seem a little too easy to do. Just because some of the other stress reduction tips on this site are not so easy, it doesn't take anything away from the power of getting fresh air.

And let me tell you something else that separates this "natural" solution from other stress reduction tips...

It can be "picked up" and "dropped" in an instant. What do I mean by that? You can start going outside when ever you want, and you can stop whenever you want. The flexibility is perfect for today's busy world.

The stress reduction tips out there are plenty, but not all of them are as flexible, as "natural", as time-friendly, and as easy as this one. Not all, but some are.

Here's What I do

You see, many stress reduction tips are only practiced when you feel stressed out. But getting fresh air is different. If you spend as little as ten minutes a day getting fresh air, you'll also prevent stress.

That's why I try to practice this stress reduction technique daily.

Here's how I do it...

I go to my back yard. I pull up a chair; any chair I feel comfortable in. And then I just relax. I close my eyes, breath in the natural air, and I just sit there. You don't have to close your eyes if you don't want to.

Backyard

Sometimes I feel better opening my eyes, so I can actually see my setting. Eyes closed or open? It's your choice. So I just sit there for about ten minutes. Sometimes, I even stretch it to twenty minutes.

But ten minutes is really all you need to feel the effect. And as you keep practicing, you may want to increase your time. It's all up to you.

But hey, keep going! Even if you miss a day or two, don't stop. Don't let a broken streak ruin your ambition. If you miss one day, don't let it discourage you from continuing.
