Stress Relief Advice: Now, not Later or Before You see, we all have the poor habit of constantly worrying about things that have not yet happened, or have already happened. Tomorrow and yesterday. It's like we've forgotten about today all of a sudden! You may not think you do it, but you do. I personally worry about the future than I do of the past. You may be guilty of that too, or maybe you are a "past worrier". Either way, you should worry about today today and tomorrow tomorrow. Here are some examples to help you understand better... Worrying About the Past "I can't believe I did that" or "I can't believe that happened" "I could have done..." "Why didn't I..." "I'm going to regret..." Worrying About the Future "Oh no, what if..." Whether you worry about the future, the past or both, here's why you should stop now in order to eliminate your stress. Let's tackle the past first... What's the point in stressing out about something that already happened? You can't change the event! So forget about it, forever. Or at least don't let it flood your brain. It's only going to make the feeling worse. The more you think about how stressful something was, the more stressed you're going to be. And here's the important reason why you shouldn't worry about the past... You successfully got through that event and now you're in the present. Why on earth would you want think back about that time? You have "made it". You got past the stressful event. Now isn't the time to waste with the paste. Now should be spent on now. So, forget about it. It's unnecessary stress! And now on to the future... The future is filled with surprises. Let it come as you go. Enjoy the tide, go with the tide. Don't stress about it! Why not? I bet you most of the things you stress about don't even happen! Happens to me, how about you? But, yes, I know it's quite hard to avoid thinking about the future. We do it all the time. But I've been trying something I think I ought to tell you about..... Stress Relief Advice: Don't Think About the Future; Here's How I Do It Well for me, it's starting to come easy. I'm starting to find it easier to safely avoid the future thoughts. The stressful thoughts, of course. So here's how I do it... As soon as a stressful future thought comes into my head, I immediately look at whatever object is beside me. Any object. For example, if I look at a book, I think "Why did I want this book?" And then my thought process goes into that, away from the stress. You should try it! You know, any object you find lying around. It's a great way to get you thinking away from tomorrow. And by the time "tomorrow" arrives, you would probably have forgotten about what you were stressing about! Again, it happened to me.
