So, stress is eating you alive? Well, this stress relief idea will eat your stress alive!

Laughter

This stress management activity requires you to laugh, that's all! There are many stress management strategies, but this one allows you to have fun while relieving stress.

This is a great stress technique, but "How", "Why", "When" and "Where" do you laugh? Get ready...

Laughter-A Mysterious Stress Relief Idea

Let's start off with the question you are most probably asking. "How does laughter help relieve stress?" Here's how:

Laughter is a complex thing to describe. That's why I will use simple terms. Laughter is basically an expression of amusement, joy or happiness.

Now what do these three feelings have in common? You guessed it, they're all good feelings; feelings that kill stress!

But there's more to it than that.

If you read about the page about stress relief exercises , you would know that your body releases "happiness" chemicals called endorphins.

And these chemicals act as "natural pain killers". Guess what? Laughter also produces these endorphins, which means you get that automatic and instant feeling of happiness. Like I said before on the exercise page, who has time for stress when they're happy?

It's an excellent feeling.

Laughter Does Work!

Let me make a quick assumption here. You probably laugh at least once everyday, don't you? The average adult laughs up to 15 times a day! So even if you're stressed, you do laugh at least once, don't you?

Here's what I'm trying to get at. Try to recall a moment where you enjoyed a good laugh. A truly happy feeling, wasn't it? Now imagine if you can do that 20 more times (try to laugh more than the average adult!) throughout the day.

Your whole day would be different. Different meaning stress-free! And here's another fact on laughter: The average child laughs up to 400 times a day. Imagine that; Four Hundred!! Did you every stop to think why children are much, much happier than adults?

Yes, their lives are easier as well, but if adults had these numbers, there would be no such thing as stress!

No, I'm not saying laugh 400 times a day. I'm just trying to show you the effect laughter has on stress.

So, this stress relief idea is starting to look better and better, isn't it? Let's tackle another asked question: "How do I laugh?", meaning "How do I get myself into a situation where I can use this stress relief idea?"

Well keep reading...

Whatever You Enjoy!

In a way, finding a situation for laughter is almost like a hobby. Why? You like doing whatever it is to make you laugh. You also can do it in your free time. Just like a hobby.

So laughter can be your new hobby. How do you start? Well, ask yourself what makes you laugh. Is it a person? If so, try to spend more time with that person, so you could so some more laughing.

Do you have a favorite comedy TV series? Well, watch more of that! How about a favorite comedian?

Here's something else you can do. Have you constantly been hearing about something, because people say it's really funny?

You know, like a video clip, a TV show, or a movie? Then try that. Why? These are new things. And anything that is new, and that you have not seen or heard before, has a better chance of making you laugh for a longer time.

Try it, and you'll see! And speaking of new things, there are always new comedy films out. Try some of those. You see, there are unlimited resources out there for laughter; you just have to find them. I just covered some.

Remember; you have a chance to laugh and enjoy yourself more than you think. And once you start laughing and having fun, stress would be long gone!

Just when you thought that this stress relief idea couldn't get any better, you were hit with an arsenal of laughter resources!

But now on to another question you're probably asking...

How Do You Find Time To Enjoy Yourself and Laugh?

This is simple. Do you watch TV? Surf the web? You know, spend leisure time? If you do, all you have to do is substitute whatever you do in your free time, with laughter (laughing activities).

Think about it. You're not sacrificing anything, if you think that's the case. You're enjoying yourself still, but this time you're laughing, and slowly becoming stress free! It's a double benefit.

You're still having as much, if not more, fun as you were having before, but that good feeling stays with you, even after you're done! Why? Because laughter produces those chemicals that make you happy, remember?

Before work, after work, before bed, after dinner-the choice is yours! Try to include these laughing activities as much in your day as possible, to maximize the effect and minimize the time it takes to relieve stress!

And now for the last question regarding this helpful and reliable stress relief idea:

Where Can I Best Use This Stress Relief Idea?

You see, unlike many other stress management strategies, you can do use this tip (laughing) almost anywhere! At home, outside, even at work! But be careful at work; don't be laughing too much...

But basically, laughing is fine anywhere! Except for a tiny few, laughing is perfectly fine and accepted. It's a natural human reaction; what's wrong with that?

As you can see, this stress management activity is the most flexible one yet! Everything is your decision. The only mandatory thing is to laugh! And what a small obligation, that is!

Take-Home Lesson?

This stress relief idea is flexible, it's fun, it's natural, it's accepted...You don't need anymore convincing than that! It's just so easy, yet not done enough.
