Are you still confused about "people stress"? You see, it's not just in school. It happens at work, at home and in life.

So, if you're confused about how others can stress you out in school, you're about learn it all.

Ready? Let's go!

Student Stress: What is "People Stress"?

So what exactly is "people stress". It's basically stress that others cause you. Let me give you an example...

Group Project

Let's say you're at school, working with a few classmates for a project. What if one of them is really bossy?

Let's say you end up doing the most work because your group members didn't let you speak for yourself.

You're obviously stressed out, right? Of course you are.

In this example, someone caused you stress by "forcing" you to do ore work than everyone else.

And what else does that mean?

More homework! Homework is a stressor on its own!

Do you see the effect of "people stress"?

When someone causes you stress, it creates a "domino stress effect" which becomes too hard too handle.

Student Stress: "People Stress" Lets Everyone Down

Let's say a friend wants to meet with you after school so you can play basketball. Fine, right?

But you were assigned a lot of homework that day...

What do you do?

Should you go with your friend, anyway? If so, the homework will stress you out.

Should you "ditch" your friend and do your homework? Then, your friend may feel insulted, which causes stress for you.

And on top of that...

Your friend can be a demanding person. Let's say he/she says you have to come otherwise you're not a "good friend".

I can't even begin to imagine the stress on that one!

Bottom-line?

By letting someone down, stress will result for both of you. Especially if that person is your friend.

Wow, "people stress" is really nasty, isn't it? Don't worry. Now for the best part...

Student Stress: Here's My Tip

Be You.

What?

Whenever you feel in doubt of letting someone down, be you. How?

Let's say you're a really studious person. You know, someone who likes to study a lot.

If you're friend asks you to play, but you have homework, do what you would normally do.

In this case, it would be to do your homework.

Don't be afraid to do as you like.

But how does this eliminate the stress?

I knew you would ask that. You see, when your friend, or anyone, consistently sees the real you, they'll respect that.

They'll expect you to do your homework, instead of playing basketball. Why? Because that's you.

What's the only way you can achieve that respect?

Be being yourself everyday. Hey, they need to see it everyday to believe it, right?

Take-home Lesson

Great! You've learned about "people stress" and how it's a big source of student stress in school.

But what's the most important thing that you learned today?

The tip, of course! I can't say use this tip whenever you feel stressed because you should use it everyday!

And tell your friends, too. They'll be grateful for it. After all, if everyone's stress-free, who's going to give you stress? No one!
