Symptoms of stress: Here are the many signs of stress that you must know. Could you possibly possess one of the stress symptoms?

You're anxious, aren't you? You're not alone. Whenever I search for "symptoms" of anything, the only thing going through my mind is, "Do I have one of the stress signs?"

Today, you'll learn emotional, physical and behavioral symptoms.

Emotional Symptoms of Stress

Do You Feel Sad?

This should be your first sign to check. Are you happy in general? If you feel depressed, then stress could be feeding off of you. After all, who's happy when they're stressed?

Are the "Funny" Things No Longer "Funny"?

If you don't laugh as much anymore, then you could be stressed. Why? Stress makes it more difficult to laugh at things. Do still find funny things funny? If not, you could be stressed.

Do You Always Feel Anxious or Nervous?

Stress and anxiety are almost synonymous. If you're stressed, you start to feel anxious and worried all the time. No argument there, right?

Are You Always Angry or Frustrated? I do. How about you? When something doesn't go your way, do you start steaming? If you do, stress may be taking control of your emotions, and let anger get the better of you. It's very common.

Are You the Only One in This World?

When you're stressed, you may tend to feel alone all the time. Why? Stress causes that feeling of hopelessness and "no one's there for you". If you are having a similar feeling, you could be stressed.

As you can see, the emotional system has to do with your mind. Stress dictates your emotions. Stress takes control of your mind. If you let it.

Care for some physical symptoms? Of course you do! There more symptoms you know, the better prepared you are to tackle this ugly monster called stress!

Do You Get Headaches? I get headaches when I'm stressed. It isn't uncommon for you to have one as well. Remember that stress is from your mind, so you're likely to have headache if your brain feels overwhelmed.

Are You Getting "Colds" A Lot?

Coughing, runny nose, you know the usual? Colds are common, hence the name "common cold". But if you're stressed, you get more colds than frequently. If it's true for you, then this symptom may tie you to stress.

Has Your Weight Changed?

When you are stressed, you tend to gain weight. But losing weight is also a possible sign. So, if you find any significant change in your weight, you may be stressed.

Neck, Back or Chest Pain?

If you read about the relationship stress has with back pain and chest pain , you'll get a better understanding why stress causes pain in these muscle areas.

Do You Sweat More?

I do. Sweat isn't only from heat. If you're nervous, anxious, stressed, or worried, you may start sweating. It's not as common, but it's there. So keep an eye on it.

Can You Sit Still?

I always find it hard to relax when I'm stressed. I always move around, and I can never just sit still for even five minutes. If you have a similar experience, then stress could be the reason.

For me, the physical symptoms are the easiest to detect. It is happening in your body, and you start to actually "feel" it. It doesn't get anymore up close and personal than that...

Behavioral Symptoms of Stress

Are You Able to Sleep?

This is a very common symptom. Who can sleep when they're stressed? If you are finding it hard to dose off, you may have too much on your mind.

Feel Hungry, or Snacking on Junk Food? If you start eating more unhealthy food, then you're likely stressed. To some extent also, if you lose your appetite it could mean you're stressed. Basically, keep an eye on yourself to see if your eating habits are changing.

Do You Delay Things?

Do you find yourself procrastinating on things and leaving them for later? If so, it could mean you don't have confidence or "mental readiness" to attend to activities right then and there. And of course, you be stressed out.

Smoke More? It's a natural tendency for a regular smoker to resort to smoking to calm their stress. If you find yourself smoking more than usual, it could be because of stress.

Drink More?

Hey, the same goes for drinking. If you drink regularly, you might want to check on that. If you find yourself drinking more than you usually do, you could be stressed out.

Do You Find Yourself "Doing Nothing"?

I'm guilty of this when I'm stressed. I usually find myself sitting around doing nothing. If you just sit mindlessly, it could mean you are constantly thinking about things; things that make you stressed.
