Yoga for stress management...A must know about yoga and stress!

You want to try yoga for stress management? Well, you've obviously heard about yoga, haven't you? Yes, I can tell you what you need to know about yoga and stress. It's growing in popularity, isn't it?

It started off small, but now it's being practiced and adored by millions around the world. People do yoga for happiness, yoga for peacefulness, yoga for health, yoga for flexibility, but how about yoga for stress management? Out of its many, many benefits, is stress relief one of them?

That's why I chose to share this information with you. If you're doing yoga for stress management, or just for fun, you're bound to feel stress free and happy after a couple trials!

I wasn't sure about the whole idea at first, but once I tried yoga, I felt so calm and happy. I never experienced stress at all!

That is the warrior pose, one of the many poses in yoga. But posing isn't the only aspect in yoga. In fact, it's the deep breathing that mostly helps in reducing your stress. Let's cover the main question: Doing yoga for stress management...How does it work?

Let's explore the stress relieving benefits of yoga. Stress relief can be found when doing yoga because it makes you cool and relaxed. It's a deep breathing exercise. When you breathe deeply, all your tense muscles and nerves get relaxed, and you feel light, calm and happy.

You see, your body has something called a natural relaxation response. What is that? Basically, it's your body's natural way of relaxing your muscles and mind, and relieving you of stress. And guess what? Doing deep-breathing yoga triggers this relaxation response, and slowly you start feeling less stressed and happier!

When you're stressed, your nerves are tense. Deep breathing yoga loosens those nerves and muscles. No tense means no stress. It is crystal clear how this benefit works.

Wait. I know it's a lot to take in at once. So I'll break each benefit down one step at a time.

Relieve Your Nerves of Tension; Relieve Your Body of Stress!

Deep breathing is an easy way to relieve stress. And you now know that deep breathing relaxed your nerves and muscles. So, let me tell you how it relieves stress.

You see, when you breathe deeply, your mind is in tune with your body. In fact, the goal of yoga is to unify your body, mind and soul.

Over time, when your body and mind are calm and unified in relaxation, it becomes balanced. Nerves are relaxed, your immune system starts working better, your mind is peaceful and happy, and much more! Where's the time for stress when your whole body and mind are working together in harmony?

And all of these bodily benefits are due to your body's natural relaxation response, triggered by deep breathing!

Stretching Relieves Stress Too!

Other than deep breathing, there are also a lot muscle stretching positions that you can do while doing yoga. Well, deep-breathing yoga for stress management works, so let's see how stretching and posing yoga for stress management works.

Relaxing the mind is achieved by deep-breathing. Feeling physically relaxed is achieved by stretching and posing. And feeling good physically also helps in relieving stress.

Why?

I'll give you an example. Let's say your mind is calm, cool and stress free, but your back is throbbing with pain. Instantly, your focus now shifts to your hurting back, and your calm mind is no longer calm!

You see, a relaxed mind is only half the solution. Having well stretched and relaxed muscles completes the other half of the yoga for stress management formula!

When you try yoga for the first time, it may seem a little difficult. Or it may seem too easy. Either way, practice yoga regularly. This could mean everyday, or every other day, whatever. You set your own schedule, but stay at it. The more time you devote to yoga, the quicker you will start reaping the stress relieving benefits.

Remember, even I was doubtful at first, but I didn't stop. And now I can see the difference. I feel calm, happy, and not stressed at all! If you're still not sure, here's an interview I did with Ellen Serber about the benefits of yoga.

Yoga Manages Stress and Prevents It!

If you do yoga for stress management, you'll definitely see results if you practice regularly. But if you do yoga when you're not stressed to begin with, then it can even prevent you from being stressed! How?

Think about it...Let's say you're doing yoga and you're happy and relaxed. Then something bad happens, and you have a chance of stressing out. Well, your chances of becoming stressed are slim because your mind is already in a good position.

So it's going to take something really big to take down that happy and relaxed feeling. However, if your mind isn't in a positive mood, than it is more vulnerable to "catching" stress.

Think about it this way. Yoga is Vitamin C, your mind is your immune system, and stress is a cold. If you take Vitamin C daily, then your immune system is stronger, which decreases the chances of you catching a cold!
